Or is your email account provided by a company who send you junk mail not only from themselves, but just about everyone else? Just because you’re online, using broadband (or dial-up) doesn’t mean that your email account needs to be set up with your internet provider. You can have something much more specific and much more memorable. For as little as £45 a year, Arran Graphics can provide you with a custom-made email address. This can include your family name (for example, John Smith could have something like John@SmithsofArran.co.uk). What’s more, anyone else in your family (or business) can have additional email addresses at no extra cost. (Ann@SmithsofArran.co.uk, for example). This service offers multiple email addresses and your own domain name, without going to the expense of having your own website (unless you want one!). Also, a blog (see previous page) could be added easily to your package. Okay, so it’s not free like your current email address, but it does give you more. You can access your email from anywhere in the world (you get a global webmail control panel); and you can easily set-up Outlook Express or Outlook to view and compose email offline, without having to access a secure site. Our service provides unlimited additional email addresses on the same domain, junk mail filtering and the cost of the domain registration itself. Arran Blogs Online journals that you control. Worldwide, over 20,000 blogs are started every day. So, what are they? A “Blog” is simply a web log; a journal or diary which simply keeps your friends, families or business acquaintances up-to-date on what you’re doing. They are also known for their ability to receive feedback from anyone who views your blog. Blogs are so easy to use that many people don’t bother with a complete website and just have a blog instead, which appears like a website, but without the inherent costs of maintaining one. On a Blog you can write your news, add photos, link to favourite websites and receive feedback from those who access your blog. You can keep it private, so that only people you know will access it, or you can tell the world what you’re up to. The choice is yours! A user-friendly control panel allows you to access your blog from anywhere in the world, so even if you’re on holiday you can write and add photos which can then be viewed immediately online. We offer three options for your own blog. The first two are controlled under our Arran Blog website at www.arranblog.co.uk. The third option is more suited to anyone wishing complete anonymity with their own domain name. Option 1: Arran Blog - Public access Suitable for anyone who wants to let anyone on Arran (and the rest of the world!) know they have a blog. You get a blog name (eg: yourname.arranblog.co.uk) and you get a directory listing on the main Arran Blog Website which links people to your blog. Order: BLOGD Price: £50.00 per year* Option 2: Arran Blog - Friends and Family As above, without a directory listing on our website. This helps to keep your blog less likely to be accessed by anyone other than those you give your blog address to. Also very handy for committees, etc.... Order: BLOGFF Price: £45.00 per year* Option 3: Domain & Blog A domain name (eg: yourname.co.uk) and a blog to go with it. You could, for example) have your family name (if available) and a .co.uk, .com or .net extension to go with it. We would then host your blog on that domain. In the future, you could extend this to a full website (extra cost). Order: BLOGW Price: £60.00 per year* * Blogs, once ordered, cannot be refunded. If you wish to terminate your blog during your contract, we cannot offer a refund for any unused period. The fees are renewable on the anniversary of the setting-up of your blog. Terms: Blogs hosted on arranblog.co.uk are subject to routine checking for illegal or defamatory use. Any such use will result in the termination of the contract and the suspension of the service to the blog’s administrator. Blogs have a capacity of 100Mb webspace and 1000Mb Bandwitdth. If exceeded, we will offer to upgrade your blog to 2000Mb webspace and 5000Mb Bandwidth for an additional £40. Renewal fees due within 10 days of invoice. Blogs will be terminated if renewal fees are not paid in time. Prices include VAT. Blogs can only be set up for people aged 16 or over.

Renewal of your email and domain account will be due on the anniversary of the setting up of your domain. Renewal cost is £45.00 per year. including VAT. A control panel is available for your email account, with help files for setting up Outlook or Outlook Express. This is strongly recommended. Unlimited addresses are set up by the domain purchaser. Cancellation of your account does not offer a refund at any time. Domain names are subject to availability.

			Committees and Social Groups... The idea of a blog should definitely appeal to committees on Arran. Not only would it provide a useful means of updating news, scheduled meetings and so on, but every member of the committee can sign up to the blog, meaning that notification of anything which is posted by another member can automatically be emailed to all other members. A committee blog can obviously be kept out of the public eye - just order the Friends and Family package and we’ll set you up in a matter of hours. One person acting as administrator for the blog can define the look and feel of the site, as well as administer the users and members who sign up.
